(x) Mercia, Offa (757-796), Penny, 1.19g, 9h, light coinage (c.779-792/3), London, Ealhmund, ·+o·f·f·a·:·r:e +·, bare headed bust right, with spreading shoulders and large pendant jewel at neck, breaking beaded inner circle, rev. al·hm / und, in two lines, surrounded by a serpent torque (Chick 37e this coin; same obverse die as BM 15 and SCBI 2 (Glasgow), no. 307; N.318; S.905), legend flat at 2 o'clock and edge slightly chipped at 4 o'clock, otherwise good metal though with some staining, an attractive lively portrait with wide bare shoulders, very typical of the moneyer Eahlmund, extremely fine, scarce
