1802 (2 Oct.) entire letter ex the Douglas correspondence from Edinburgh to the Comptroller of Customs "Prince Edward Island, Gulf of St. Lawrence", marked "Duplicate" and carried by a merchant vessel with no markings or charges applied
Note: The use of "Duplicate" letters was necessary owing to the continuing loss of shipping brought about by French raiders operating out of New York and Chesapeake
