1794 (1 Feb.) entire letter ex the Douglas correspondence from Edinburgh to the Comptroller of Customs "in the Island of St. John, Gulf of St. Lawrence" (the name changed to Prince Edward Island in 1798), rated "2½" as a Ship Letter and "3/2" as a double weight Packet Letter, showing Edinburgh Paid datestamp and, on reverse, London Bishopmark and a fine strike of the "halifax/n. scotia" split circle datestamp.
