1849 (21 Dec.) entire letter (place of origin unclear) to Connecticut, USA, rated "10" and "11½" and showing a very fine strike of the "paid/at/amherst. n.s." Crowned Circle handstamp, Maine transit datestamp at foot, four transit datestamps on reverse, one for St. Andrews in blue for Christmas Day; the Crowned Circle crossed by light fling crease barely detracting from the fine appearance.
