Inauguration of Airmail Service in Sinkiang
1932 (6 Dec.) red band envelope to Tientsin bearing, on the reverse, 1924-36 4c. and 5c. (2, one split) plus Sinkiang provisional air 15c. pair tied by Tihwa (Urumtsi) c.d.s. with part Tientsin arrival (16.1) alongside and with Provincial censor seal type 6; the address side with further despatch c.d.s. and Lanchow transit (11.1) plus the grey-blue Par Avion etiquette; a little roughly opened at top. Overpaid by 5c. for postage 9c. and air mail 30c. Lu 71. Photo

This cover missed the return leg of the first flight between Tihwa and Shanghai and was carried overland to Lanchow to catch a later flight from there. Shortly after this, war broke out in Sinkiang and the air service into Tihwa was discontinued
