provenance
Believed to have been the property of Sir John Musgrove, 1st Baronet of Rusthall House, Kent, formerly High Sheriff (1843-44), and later Lord Mayor (1850-51) of London for the year of the Great Exhibition. In his early career, he was an auctioneer and house agent which may prove a likely explanation for how the coin first entered his possession. Latterly gifted by him to Ms. Sarah Jane Moore about the occasion of her marriage to Mr. Thomas Fox in Surrey in August 1878, and from there by descent.
