The edge inscription most likely records the July 1816 wedding of Benjamin Charles Léonor Jacques Philippe Frotier de la Coste-Messeliere (1785-1852) to Antoinette Elisabeth Léontine Eléonore de Saint-Simon de Courtomer (1788-1861), the eldest daughter of the 8th Marquis of Courtomer, once Count of Empire and private chamberlain of Napoleon Bonaparte for the year 1810.
