Sussex, Bodiam Castle, copper medal, 1830, by W. Wyon, view of castle, rev.
This medal was first sold to visitors of Bodiam Castle, to raise funds for the maintenance of the newly founded Sussex County Hospital and Sea Bathing Infirmary, Hastings, which offered aid "to the poor of any county or nation when suffering under sickness or casual injury". The Sussex Advertiser previously recorded John Fuller's own personal generosity to this charitable insitution, when in March 1825 he contributed £200 for its construction.
