Edward the Confessor (1042-66), Penny, pointed helmet type, Leicester (?), Godric, helmeted bust right, sceptre before, rev. godric on legi, voided cross with crescent terminals (N.825; BMC VIII; S.1179), two small flan splits leading to minor perforation, otherwise good very fine

Although assigned to Leicester, where Godric is a known moneyer, the legi mint signature is more reminicent of Chester production.
