(x) Canadian Memorial Cross, G.V.R. (335049. Gnr. D. W. Garden), in case of issue, very fine

David Wilbur Garden was born at Poona, India, on 13 June 1895, the son of the Reverend Joseph H. Garden and Frances Edith Byers-Garden of Singareni Collieries, Yellandu, India. He enlisted at Stratford, Ontario, on 2 January 1917 and arrived in England on 9 June 1917 aboard the S.S. Olympic. Taken on strength the next day, Garden served with the 1st Reserve Artillery and later transferred to the 9th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery. He was killed in action on 11 November 1917 and is buried at Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery, near Ypres; sold with copied service record.
