The miniature dress Crimea Medal named to Lieutenant J. E. Doran, Royal Navy

Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (Lieut. I. E. Doran, R.N), contemporarily engraved naming, good very fine

John Edward Doran was born at Sidmouth, Devon during 1828. He was appointed Mate in the Royal Navy in September 1849 and promoted Lieutenant whilst aboard Persian in September 1852. Serving with Leander during the Crimea campaign, he was landed as a Bluejacket during the Defence of Euratoria and at Sebastopol - he would receive a letter of thanks from Rear-Admiral Sir E. Lyons in January 1855. Doran died at Axminister, Devon in 1868; sold with copied research.
