Auction: 175 - The Double Head & Admiral Stamps of Rhodesia e-Auction
Lot: 206

1915 registered linen parcel tag, bearing "Duchess Hill" pink registration label, franked with 1902 3sh Arms pair, (S.G. 86), 1914 2d Die I Admiral (S.G. 209) and six 2/6d Die I (strip and three singles), reverse with block of ten 2/6d, a vertical strip of three, and a single Die II, paying a total rate of £2 16sh4d, all postmarked with neat Duchess Hill 23 MA 1915 double-circles, minor wear and wrinkling as expected that does not detract from this exceptional and important rarity of Rhodesian philately.

Published in the Philatelic Magazine, April 14, 1950, page 305.

The 2sh6d examples appear to be from Plate 3, State 3, which is confirmed by the position 40 "Paw Print" flaw on the lower middle example on the obverse. The lack of the "Beta" flaw is notable on all six of these examples. The examples on the reverse, being Plate 3 State 3, show the "Beta" flaw, with one exception.
