6d Admiral study of printings and shades, balance consisting of approximately 40 mint and 50 used singles, as well as a handful of multiples, carefully annotated and mounted following the RSC Handbook by Stephen Reah-Johnson, an extensive selection of interesting items, many identified as to plate position or other distinguishing characteristics, note perf 15 Die I mint with "Sloping Line" flaw, perf 14 Die II used examples showing the "Intermediate BILCO" and "Final BILCO" flaws, the rare perf 14 Die II (S.G. 229) showing the Beta Flaw of which Memoir 29 notes "only a handful of used examples known," perf 14 Die II (S.G. 228) used which Memoir 29 notes as "a rare printing," the scarce perf 14 Die II printing showing loss of detail in the King's forehead, two examples of the perf 14 Die IIIB showing the misalignment flaws at position 56, as well as another in a used strip of four, several examples of the "Half Ear" state and "Ghostly Portrait," perf 14 Die IIIB partial inscription block of four (hinged in selvedge only), etc, many used examples with desirable postmarks, a few small faults, chiefly fine, an exceptional analysis of this challenging denomination.
