France old-time classic used collection in an attractive Elbe album, covering the period 1849-1902, beginning with imperforate Ceres and Napoleon issues, followed by perforated examples, continuing through the Bordeaux, Sower, Merson and Mouchon issues; the collector was diligent in searching for shades, multiples and postmarks, of which many interesting dated, lozenge and numeral examples are included, as well as a selection of Paris Star cancels, as well as many identified small varieties ideal for continued study, cataloguing $12,980 only to 1876, and only for the least expensive shades, without any premiums for postmarks, multiples, and any items with evident faults; a wonderful opportunity to develop a collection of this popular area.
