Collection beautifully written-up on exhibition pages in ring-bound album including first issue (white paper) combination franking of £1, 4/-, 3/- and 1/6d. all on same piece with wax seal, a page showing a detailed study of the papers used for the issues (nine varieties shown including wove/laid papers), a page of postal cancellations (7) on five different papers with values from 1/6d. to £3, (unlisted by S.G.), Dark green issues on wove paper, (10) including all values 9d. to £10, with additional 1/- on document page, Blue wove paper issues (7) with values to 10/- including 1/- on receipt, Orange wove paper 6d., 9d. (scarce), Deep rose wove paper issues (9), with values to £5, ties to piece with £3 (rare thus), and a charming authorisation document bearing 18d. Salmon-pink (wove); 1875 Second issue (Die II) complete set to £1, then a superb selection of documents (13) covering both issues showing combination usage, and a wide variety of applications including Coming of Age certificate, Auction list, Wedding license etc. A superb and unusually complete collection of these elusive issues rarely offered on document.
