Mail went by BOAC to Hong Kong, where it was transferred to PAA FAM-14 China Clipper to San Francisco, then internal airmail to New York, the journey from there being made by sea to the UK.
1940 (17 Sept.) envelope from Malim Nawar (Perak) to England, marked "Via BOAC, Pan American Transpacific Airways & in USA", franked at $3.60 and showing triangular "passed for transmission/penang" in black. Rare, only three covers recorded at this rate. Photo
