Note: The Pan American Airways Trans-Pacific service from Manila to San Francisco was extended to Hong Kong on 29th April 1937. An announcement, that letters from Penang and Singapore would be accepted for this service, appeared in the Straits Times. Mail would leave Penang every Monday by the Imperial Airways flight to Hong Kong, arriving at mid-day on Tuesday. The Pan American flight left Hong Kong every Thursday, arriving at San Francisco on the following Tuesday. The inclusive airmail rate was $1.20 per ½ ounce and 60 cents for postcards.
