Auction: 17040 - The Shamshir and Lion Collection of Persian Banknotes
Lot: 74
Banque Nationale de Perse, obverse and reverse archival photographs showing designs for 1000 rials, 1934. This obverse design for a 1000 rials is quite similar to the one known to exist as a specimen. The significant differences lie on the reverse, which here features the mountain scene actually found on the front of the issued 500 rials. The specimen 1000 rials actually shows a mythical winged being, and there is no watermark window, as shown here.
spots of fading on obverse, but generally clear and of particular interest (2)
