Eadgar (959-975), Penny, 1.44g, Circumscription Cross type, Southampton?, Durand, +eadgar rex ang, rev, dvrandtesnoha, small cross pattée both sides (N.749; S.1135), scratches to the obverse, nearly very fine

The reverse can be read in two ways, the ticket supplied gives a reading of Dvrantes and the mint Southampton, but the T is smaller and could be a hammer which would be more in keeping with a northern source. North records a Durand from the North Western mints/ ‘York’ group
