Auction: 17026 - The Philatelic Collector's Series Sale
Lot: 1533
Northern Rhodesia
1938 1½d. carmine-red block of four, variety imperforate between horizontal pairs, unused with part, slightly disturbed, gum and with some light stains on reverse which are just apparent in the four corners, nevertheless generally of fine appearance and a great rarity. S.G.29a, £60,000. Photo
Note: This remarkable block of four is believed to come from the sheet purchased by Mr. Adam Thom at Mufulira Post Office in 1938. This and a further block (ex the Graham Cooper collection), together with the unique block of twelve offered by Spink in April 2015, are the only examples of this very rare variety known.
