The Peninsular War
1808-09 a group of payment warrants for losses of horses or mules, each signed by Colonel Sigismund Baron Low, Commandant of the 4th Line Battalion of King's German Legion with 1808 (20 September) to Major August de Berger, £30.10 for the destruction of his first charger; 1809 (4 May) to Lieutenant John Kirkwood for £36.15 for the loss of his charger (this signed by Brigadier General D Howorth); (1 August) to Lieutenant George Decker for £36.15 for his charger which was shot from under him; (28 August) to Major W. Hurmb for 18 guineas for the replacement of his mule which was put down due to infection; (10 September) to Captain Busspoke for £18.18 for the loss of his mule. Also 1810 list of recruits to the King's German Legion with their bounty money, signed by Low. An interesting group. (6 items)
