1808 (1 June) folio printed document of the Vice Admiralty Court, Gibraltar for Mr John Spurling, Master of His Majesty's Ship 'Imperieuse' commanded by Captain the Right Honourable Lord Cochrane, citing that on or about the 11th May seized a "Polacra Ship ... Virgen del Rosario and San Antonio". With footnote written at foot, "... further said that the capture if the said ship was detected under a Battery on the coast of Valencia where she was at anchor, and the crew thereof previous to the boarding and possession of her made their escape on shore in the boat". Signed by the Master and a court official

The 'Imperieuse' was busy seeking French and Spanish ships to capture as prizes. This phase is noted as ... from the River Tordera to Cartagena they carried out a series of coastal raids, capturing a number of vessels in the process. They returned to Gibraltar on 30th May accompanied by a flotilla of prizes.
