The short-lived Repubblica Romana was proclaimed on 15 February 1798, after Louis Alexandre Berthier, one of Napoleon’s generals, had invaded the papal state five days before. In September 1799, the Neapolitan troops put an end to the Repubblica Romana. Right side piece missing, VF.
