British South Africa Company, £1 shares, [1899], capital £5,000,000, #A294907, signed by Lord Gifford V.C. as director, coat of arms top centre, black, pink underprint, hole cancelled. Major Edric Frederick Gifford, 3rd Baron Gifford VC (5 July 1849 – 5 June 1911), awarded the VC for his gallant conduct in the third Ashanti war whilst a young lieutenant. Entered the Colonial service, working in Western Australia and Gibraltar. Joined the board of the British South Africa Company in 1889. VF and rare early date.
