1893 (24 Apr.) green envelope to South Africa, bearing 1879 1c. blue (7) and 2c. rose (7), cancelled with unframed "monrovia/ liberia" c.d.s. endorsed "Register" at upper left although there are no other postal markings or arrival marks. Postmarks slightly oily strikes, and stamps showing some browned gum in perforations, nevertheless an attractive and rare franking. S.G. 13, 14. Photo.
