Auction: 17009 - World Banknotes
Lot: 1546
National Bank of Egypt, obverse (3) and reverse (2) archival photographs showing designs for £5, 1923 and 1930 black and white, two with bank building at centre, Pharaonic heads at top left and right, third with bank building at right
(Pick 19 for type/similar), the first obverse is almost the same as the note issued in 1926, with a few minor differences. The other two are design evolutions from a later date, around 1930, and are clearly much more preliminary sketches. It seems likely that they are part of a design process for a new £5 issue with never went any further (5)
