Edward III (1327-77), Quarter Noble, fourth coinage, Treaty Period, London, 1.86g, m.m. cross potent, shield within tressure of eight arches, rev. cross fleury inside tressure, leopards and trefoils in angles, lis in centre (N.1243; S.1510), a light crease on a small flan, otherwise about very fine

The cataloguer notes the semblance of a pellet over the lis in the central reverse design. It is most probable that this was a by-product of the alignment devices used in the original commissioning of the dies, but has nevertheless created an unusual and intriguing effect
