"England, Aethelred II" (978-1016), contemporary imitation Penny, struck in retrograde, in the style of Exeter, Wynsige, 1.19g, iedelred rex, rev. pyn[sig] moo eaxe, voided long cross (cf. N.773; BMC I; S.1151); additionally, "Cnut" (1016-35), contemporary imitation Penny, pointed helmet type, 1.48g, helmeted bust left, sceptre before, rev. blundered and retrograde legend, short cross, pellet in angles (cf. N.787; BMC XIV; S.1158), the first lightly pecked on reverse suggesting a Scandinavian origin, otherwise good fine, the second the better (2)
