Atrebates and Regni, Tincomarus, (c. 25BC-AD 10), silver Unit, 1.18g, [tinco]marvs, diademed bust left, rev. horse left, lyre above (VA 473; ABC 1100; S.90), good very fine

provenance
Bt. Rudd, August 2008

Before the Alton Hoard was discovered in 1996, it was assumed that the name of the son of Commios was 'Tincommius'. However, this find of gold staters provided examples displaying the full reading of the name 'Tincomarus'. This silver unit further confirms that reattribution, clearly exhibiting the suffix -marvs in the ruler's name.
