An interesting archive to Able Seaman P. H. Wiley, United States Merchant Marine, who saw active service during the Second World War

United States, Merchant Marine Medal 1941-1945, unnamed as issued, together with three War Shipping Administration ribands and certificates for the Atlantic War Zone, Mediterranean Middle East War Zone and Pacific War Zone Bars, each officially named 'Parker H. Wiley', nearly extremely fine

Parker Hayes Wiley was born at Raymond, Illinois on 30 April 1915. He served throughout the Second War with the United States Merchant Marine, including time aboard the M.S. Chester Sun. A hand-written note gives details of one posting which included visits to Pearl Harbour, the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia. The note ends with the summary:

'Never set foot on land July 25- Oct. 10. 77 days. Crossed equator twice. Through [Panama] Canal 4 times.'

Sold with a complete archive of original documentation in a mounted folder, including the recipient's United States Seaman's Passport, identification certificates, registration, graduation and discharge certificates.
