The Kaiser Wilhelm I Centenary Medal 1897 was awarded on 22 March 1897 upon his hundredth birthday to all military on active service and to the veterans of the wars of 1864, 1866 and 1870. It was made from Danish, Austrian and French cannon captured in those wars.
