Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., 1st issue, Territorial (894278 Sjt. R. Spedding, R.A.), good very fine

Ronald Spedding was wounded in Tunisia on 28 April 1943, while serving in 111 Field Regiment, R.A. He would earlier have taken part in the momentous artillery barrage that marked the first phase of the battle of El Alamein in October 1942.

111 F.R.R.A. was commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel John Daniel, M.C., whose obituary notice in the Daily Telegraph confirms its subsequent part in operations undertaken by the Raiding Support Regiment out of Vis: working alongside No. 2 Commando, 111 F.R.R.A. lent valuable support to partisans in Albania, Montenegro and Yugoslavia; for further details see http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/1507083/Lt-Col-John-Daniel.html
