Korea 1950-53 (19047922 Pte. J. C. Stephenson, Welch); U.N. Korea 1950-54, the first with severe edge bruising, thus fine or better (2)

Initially drafted to 'C' Company, 1st Battalion, The Welch Regiment, Stephenson later transferred to the Assault Platoon as a carrier driver.

He won his bout as a Light Heavy Weight, a victory that resulted in a final score of 23-22 in favour to The Welch: following his notable bout, it was said that Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau could be heard in Pyong Yang.
