'About 35 Naval officers and 330 Naval ratings were employed for varying periods on these duties. A great number worked unceasingly without relief or rest, exposed to consistent air attacks, and periodical bombardments from artillery, for up to seven days. The work of these officers and men was of the greatest value and contributed largely to the success of the operation.'

D.S.M. London Gazette 16 August 1940:
'For good service in the withdrawal of the Allied Armies from the beaches at Dunkirk.'
The secondary recommendation states:
'The ratings employed ashore on the coast, and in Dunkirk, were subjected to a considerable ordeal. The following are selected from the large number employed, for conspicuous devotion to duty under fire.'
Frederick William Parker appears to have been one of 35 Petty Officers and ratings decorated for services ashore during Operation "Dynamo". He received his D.S.M. at a Buckingham Palace investiture held on 9 August 1941; sold with copied research.
