Thomas Musgrave Swinnerton Dyer was born on 5 July 1907, the son of Major S. B. B. Dyer. Educated at the Oratory School, Kensington and St. Catherine's College, Cambridge and the R.M.C. Sandhurst, he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in The Buffs in September 1939 and served with the Regiment during the Second World War. He died at Worthing, Sussex in December 1989.
