D.C.M. London Gazette 11 March 1916:
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion. Bombardier Connor accompanied and Officer, and established telephonic communication to the rear under heavy shell fire. The line was cut three times during the night, and on each occasion he re-established communication under heavy rifle and shell fire. On another occasion, although wounded, he displayed great bravery in the performances if his duties.'
Thomas H. Connor first entered the French theatre of was a Bombardier in 122nd Battery, R.F.A. on 19 August 1914, in which capacity he was also mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 22 June 1915, refers). His MIC is annotated 'Dis. Para. 363 (xviii) K.R.' and 'V.M. pstd. (Deserted) 2.11.23', together with 'Vic. M with emblems re-issued 4.10.26'. These notes suggest that Connor was a deserter who made an application for his campaign medals in the early 1920s, only then to lose his Victory Medal about 1926.
