Military Cross, G.V.R., unnamed as issued, in its case of issue, together with a portrait miniature of the recipient, in glazed oval silver-gilt frame, with green silk backing, good very fine (2)
M.C. London Gazette 26 July 1917:
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in leading his party to its final objective. Later, he conveyed orders from his commanding officer at great personal risk, went into the open to tend to a wounded officer, and showed great bravery in rallying and reorganising his men during their retirement. He was the only surviving officer of his company.'
