(x) The 1914 Star awarded to Private F. Murray, 2nd Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, who won the D.C.M. and M.M. during the Great War

1914 Star, with copy clasp (11371 Pte. F. Murray. R. Dub: Fus.), toned, good very fine

[D.C.M.] London Gazette 3 September 1918:

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. The Battalion, which had been surrounded by the enemy was fighting its way back to our lines but found a bridge on which they retired already in possession of the enemy; an immediate attack on the bridge was undertaken. Two of the enemy however were hiding under the bridge, ready to fire at close quarters. Private Murray saw them and instantly rushed at them and killed them both. His unhesitating courage undoubtedly saved the lives of many.'

[M.M.] London Gazette 14 May 1919.

Frank Murray entered the French theatre of war in the 2nd Battalion, Dublin Fusiliers on 23 August 1914. He later served with the Hampshire Regiment.
