Naval General Service 1793-1840, one clasp, Syria (A. B. Warre, Volr.), edge bruising, otherwise very fine

The published rolls confirm the recipient as a Volunteer aboard H.M.S. Vanguard for the Syria operations of 1840.

Arthur Braithwaite Warre, who was appointed a Midshipman in May 1836, subsequently served for about four years as a Mate in the Inconstant and Hibernia in the Mediterranean, in addition to his part in the Syria operations of 1840. He was advanced to Lieutenant in October 1847 and, having been placed on the Retired List as a Commander in April 1867, died in May 1902; sold with copied service record and O'Byrne entry.
