1868 American Bank Note Company trade sample sheet, engraved in golden yellow on mesh wove paper, the complete sheet displaying nineteen different stamps having been produced by the ABNC, including the Costa Rica 1863 2r First Issue in position 13, along with eleven different BNA issues and stamps from Brazil, Chile and Mexico, unusually wide margins surround the sheet, few negligible flaws including a small pinhole and light creasing in the wide edges of the sheet, overall very fine and stunning; intact sample sheets such as this are quite rare as most were cut up into individual proofs, remarkably the Mayer collection features a total of eight intact sheets in various colors and papers, one of the largest offerings ever in a single auction.
