French Colonies #11, 14, 1871 20c Blue and 40c Orange horizontal strip of three, a lovely franking making the double British packet rate of 1Fr40c, both the single and the strip of three have large to extra-large margins all around, tied to handsome 1872 cover to France by black lozenge cancels, light black "Guadeloupe/Pointe-a-Pitre/26 Janv 72" double-circle c.d.s. with two strikes of the black boxed "PD" handstamp, one of which is purposely obliterated by a strike of the black lozenge cancel (very unusual), blue packet entry transit, backstamped Paris, typical minor staple holes to cover, very fine and exceedingly choice; an attractive and very rare double rate cover;
