1845, January 27 incoming folded letter from United States with interesting contents regarding Washington and politics in the U.S., headed inside "Not knowing when a vessel sails, I fear my letter may lie in the post office some days. Adieu. Adieu.", endorsed "Care of Geo & John Laurie/Merchants Exchange New York", crossed out and with corresponding red cachet of the forwarding agents on reverse, with neat dispatch c.d.s. on face, "Paid" straight-line and "10" manuscript rate; in addition one letter from London to New Jersey with the same forwarding agents' marking.
