AAMC #1095 var., 1929 Seward, Alaska to Seattle, Washington, carried on the "Land of Soviets" airplane making the long historic record flight from Moscow to New York on the east bound flight across the Arctic Ocean and the Bering Sea, a stop was made at Seward, Alaska on September 29th and ten covers were posted, all this is noted in the AAMC, what is not noted is that there were a few covers posted from Seward to Seattle, probably less than the ten posted to New York, this cover being a 5c Air Mail postal envelope (#UC2) with "Seward/AlaskaSep 29 1929 duplex and backstamped Seattle on Oct. 14th, ms. flight cachet reads "This letter was carried to Seattle, Wash./on Russian airplane "Land of Soviet " through the courtesy of Commander Shastakoff" and signed by Chas. A. Sheldon, Postmaster of Seward, Alaska, very fine and rare.
