Henry IV of Castile
1466 (24 November) oblong folio from Segovia signed "Yo el Rey". Notifying the mayor and council of Alcalá la Real (in Andalusia) of complaints brought forth by Christian, Muslim, and Jewish merchants ("mercaderes christianos, moros y judios") who had been burdened with excessive tolls (“portazgos”) and duties. A so-called "Real cédula", counter-signed by the Secretary Royal Alfonso de Velasco, Pedro Fernandez, Doctor García, and Diego Vazquez. With the remains of the red wax wafer seal. Henry IV (1425 – 1474), King of the Crown of Castile, nicknamed the Impotent (ruled 1454–1474), was the last of the weak late medieval kings of Castile. During Henry's reign the nobles increased in power and the nation became less centralised.
