1888 (1 Dec.) letter headed "Saint Clements, Bonny River" from Henry Pepple of the Bonny Royal family addressed to "Naval Officer in Command of the H.M. Sandrail at Bonny River". The contents include "I have been falsely accused of witchcraft, which in accordance to our Native law is punishable with death" and "I therefore put myself and people under the Special Protection of Her Majesty Queen Victoria of Great Britain"
