1872 (3 Mar.) envelope ex the "Druitt" correspondence to London, written aboard H.M.S. Seagull, complete with original four page letter on headed paper, bearing GB 1867-80 6d. mauve Pl.9 cancelled by "P" in barred oval, showing "london/ paid" c.d.s. (29.3) with London arrival c.d.s. (29.3) on reverse. Trivial creasing, though letter contains engrossing details of the transfer of Elmina "there is a chance of a row shortly, the Dutch have sold it to us, and some of the natives object to the transfer... and they threaten all sorts of things".
