1871 (April) Officer's envelope to Southsea with printed "H.M.S. Rattlesnake" crest on flap, bearing GB 1866-69 1d. red (6) one of which has been removed from another cover and reused (on piece!), each cancelled with "11" in barred oval (G.P.O) cancellation and showing Portsmouth arrival c.d.s. (24.5) on reverse, recipient's notation "written at Cape Coast Castle April 1871, recd May 24th" below adhesives; edges and corners worn, still an unusual and attractive cover. Photo
