1877 (14 Oct.) envelope to Boston U.S.A., marked "via Liverpool", bearing 1876 1d. blue pair, one bisected diagonally, and 6d. orange, all cancelled by "554" in oval of bars, showing red crayon "1d" and "6½d.", Accra c.d.s. (14.10), "paid/liverpool/br. packet" c.d.s. (12.11) with arrival c.d.s. (25.11). A rare and most attractive franking in a wonderful state of preservation. Only about four pre U.P.U. bisect covers are recorded. Photo
