1802 (27 Apr.) entire letter from "Cape Coast Castle" to London, showing "ship letter/dover" oval h.s. in black (Type S.6b), rated "10", endorsed on front "By Favour of Captn. Smith. Latana" and showing, on reverse, arrival c.d.s. (29.7) in red. Very fine and the only recorded cover paying the additional 1d. standard charge on all letters in addition to the inland charge, introduced in 1799. Photo
