1881-96 ten pamphlets or tracts and 1882-91 twelve documents or pamphlets, all related to the debate between Pearson Hill and Patrick Chalmers, the sons of Rowland Hill and James Chalmers, as to who should be credited with the invention of the Postage Stamp, including "Opinions from the Press upon "The Penny Postage Scheme of 1837" (1881), "Sequel of Concealment Unveiled: "A tale of the Mansion House" (1886), "The adhesive Postage Stamp decision of the Encyclopedia Britannica" (1886), submissions to the American Philatelic Association, International Society of Philatelists, Dresden, presenting the argument from Chalmers side; "A paper on some newly discovered essays and proofs of postage stamps" (1881 and he 1889 reprint) annotated by Hill "Kindly return this, when quite done with, to Mr. Pearson Hill 6 Pembridge Square London W", etc., putting the argument from Hill's side; mixed condition but an interesting group of considerable philatelic importance
